Five years ago, the alumni leadership was restructured to better leverage Hamilton's most loyal volunteers.
Alumni programs continue to evolve and grow against this backdrop.
Hamilton was one of the first institutions in higher ed to leverage virtual programming, enabling the College to increase donor participation and engage alumni across all class years, affinity/identity groups, and markets, particularly in smaller geographic regions.
Two years ago, Glade & Glen, a periodic publication/alumni newsletter was created and is dedicated to sharing class notes and providing alumni with timely news.
The College's goal is to secure and retain a talented, collaborative individual looking to steward, grow and further develop all aspects of alumni relations in a highly rewarding, fast-paced professional environment, working with a dedicated and charismatic team.
Reporting to the Director, Advancement Events & Promotion, the Director, Alumni and Parent Relations is a senior member of the Events and Promotion team.
This individual is responsible for designing, directing, and leveraging a volunteer management structure and deployment strategy to advance the overall goals of the Advancement Office.
In partnership with colleagues throughout Advancement, the Director will significantly impact the strategic vision and lead initiatives for alumni engagement in support of the Office's strategic plan.
The Director of Alumni and Parent Relations will lead the overall vision, management, and strategic execution of an alumni volunteer management program that is focused on developing and strengthening short and long-term meaningful relationships with alumni.
The Director will be expected to work closely with their partners in Advancement Events and Promotions to deliver a highly integrated engagement and giving strategy aligned with the goals of their Advancement colleagues.
The Director will be responsible for implementing both a creative and systematic approach to alumni volunteer management and general alumni engagement.
In addition to volunteer oversight and management, the Director will also oversee general alumni customer relations functions.
Key activities under the direction of the Director of Alumni and Parent Relations include planning and overseeing overall alumni volunteer activities, working strategically and synergistically with other Advancement Events and Promotions partners around various alumni events and milestone weekends, steering and leveraging the Alumni Council Executive Committee and other volunteer leaders, directing and executing ad hoc events and engagement opportunities for various constituencies, and various alumni communications and overall customer service.
The successful candidate will be a strategic, goal-oriented, innovative leader with a demonstrated track record of inspiring and leading large groups or teams (eg, volunteers, salesforces, etc.
).
Responsibilities:
Oversee the alumni volunteer program, including evaluating current efforts and spearheading future volunteer efforts directed at alumni engagement and giving, in alignment with the goals of the Advancement division.
Develop goals and strategies for and oversee parent relations.
Play a leadership role in working with key internal partners that interact with alumni to establish an integrated approach and optimize alumni engagement with the College.
Provide strategic direction to the team in pursuit of overall goals to increase engagement.
Lead oversight and growth of the Alumni Council and its committees, and work closely with alumni chairs, vice chairs, and committees.
Co-lead the planning of the annual Reunions and Fallcoming Weekends; as well as collaborate with the Events & Promotions team as it regards both regional and virtual event planning.
Be a key face for the college at major alumni weekends and other in-person and virtual events.
Methodically plan and encourage future alumni engagement as volunteers and contributors to the college, and seek ways to leverage opportunities for the college's graduates through the alumni network.
Help create and deliver volunteer manager training for Advancement colleagues.
Develop and maintain relationships with partners across campus.
Track metrics and trends.
Lead special projects and other related duties as needed or assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum five years of related experience in sales management, leading a team, alumni relations, or related transferable experience.
Ability to identify, cultivate, and lead volunteers is preferable.
Demonstrated success in goal-oriented sales initiatives, annual giving and/or understanding of fundraising, specifically identification, cultivation, and stewardship, or applicable ability preferred.
Strong understanding of data-driven decision-making, analytics, reporting capacities, and other tracking tools.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be professional, organized, creative, and efficient.
Able to work successfully both individually and as part of a team.
Must have demonstrated the ability to effectively lead, support, build and maintain relationships with internal partners and volunteers.
This position requires evening and weekend work as necessary.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
